BBG FOR CCSD BOARD OF EDUCATION

Yelena Glukhova, Jason Bass, Tamara Bierker

We are dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment in our schools, ensuring every student feels welcomed and secure. Our educational institutions must remain safeguarded against external threats while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our children within the classroom.

Recognizing the exceptional dedication of our teachers, who often go above and beyond, Bierker, Bass, and Glukhova are committed to enhancing our district’s safety measures. We will actively engage parents, encouraging them to openly communicate with us and participate in their child's educational journey.

Collaborating closely with our Police Department and School Resource Officers (SROs), we will diligently work to minimize crime opportunities within our schools. Additionally, we will implement comprehensive mental health initiatives and promote awareness about bullying prevention. Fostering a secure learning environment is essential to creating a safe community.

Parental Rights

We firmly advocate that parents play a pivotal role in shaping their children's future by influencing their development, guiding their education, and determining their values and beliefs. Our steadfast commitment is that parents remain informed and engaged in every aspect of their child's journey.

We uphold the importance of tradition, honoring the timeless role of parents as primary caregivers. Teachers serve as facilitators of knowledge, imparting factual information while respecting a parent’s authority in guiding their children's upbringing.

In today's landscape, numerous governmental entities are increasingly encroaching upon parental rights, presuming to know what's best for each child. Whether it is educational institutions, healthcare facilities, or child welfare agencies, there is a concerning trend of so-called experts imposing their viewpoints on parental decisions.

The recent global pandemic has underscored this issue, shedding light on the extent of government intervention in our children's lives. However, it is imperative to acknowledge that every child is unique, and no one possesses a more profound understanding or affection for a child than their parents. Parents are the ultimate authority on their child's well-being and development.

A Focus on Academic Excellence

The repercussions of the pandemic continue to linger, exacerbating the educational challenges our children face. Employing a one-size-fits-all model of education has proven ineffective. Our teachers are burdened with excessive workloads and overcrowded classrooms, leaving them without the necessary resources and support to succeed.

At the heart of quality education lies a robust curriculum grounded in fundamental principles that have stood the test of time, such as literacy and numeracy. When students are inspired, engaged, and motivated, learning naturally follows. For those needing support, we pledge to ensure they receive the personalized attention they deserve from our dedicated professionals.

Our children deserve nothing less than a rigorous education grounded in common sense principles and high academic standards. We must adequately prepare them for life's challenges before we succumb to the pressure of simply passing students through the system.

Bierker, Bass, and Glukhova are committed to reinstating a time-honored educational approach that allows teachers to focus on what they do best: teaching. We aim to foster an environment where excellence is not just encouraged but expected, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and beyond.

Communication

Our nation finds itself in a state of discord, where dialogue has been replaced by shouting. Regrettably, this same trend has permeated our education system, where patience has waned, and animosity has taken root, even among our youngest learners. It's time to pause, reflect, and realign our values and priorities.

Bierker, Bass, and Glukhova are committed to fostering open, two-way communication, even when it is difficult and uncomfortable. Students’ voices will not be disregarded; instead, we will create a welcoming space for them to express their thoughts and grievances and actively work towards resolving them.

We refuse to marginalize any member of our community. Instead, we will collaborate with all stakeholders, especially students, to address the challenges facing our education system. We understand the importance of upholding constitutional rights, including the First Amendment, allowing individuals to voice their opinions freely. Instead of shying away from disagreement, we embrace it as an opportunity for growth and progress.

As advocates for our children, we are committed to restoring Clarkstown to its former glory and rebuilding its reputation as a beacon of educational excellence. Together, we will embark on this journey towards a brighter future for all.

On May 21st, vote for Bierker, Bass and Glukhova for CCSD BOE.
